Hong Kong, China
Taking the advantages of the double height space and attractive exterior view over Victioria Harbour, the project provides an inspiring studio space for a group of designers. Completed within a low construction budget, the design suggests an alternative solution to the use of precious land in Hong Kong.
The vertical characteristic is presented as an entrance lobby meeting place to create a dramatic arrival experience and provide privacy for the working areas behind. The working stations are planned besides the main window for the amazing exterior view. Ascending the staircase, there is a small library behind another working area on the upper level. Existing structural beam is adopted as a part of the lighting design by means of fluorescent lights with light-shields running through the whole studio ceiling.
