HIGHSTREET
ABBOTSFORD
This project integrates the concepts of open-air shopping and urban social experience, creating a distinctive environment that differs from conventional indoor shopping mall design. Located on the west side of Abbotsford, it serves as a social hub for the Fraser Valley Area and accommodates a collection of shops, restaurants, anchor stores, an eleven-screen movie theatre and offices in a convenient location adjacent to the Trans-Canada Highway. The design concept features the main shopping streets and plaza areas on the podium level, with one- and two-storey buildings and a parking level beneath.

Three vertical circulation systems connect the podium level to the 1,400 covered parking stalls at the lower level, ensuring effective access. A simple yet unique architectural language is employed for various commercial activities to create a cohesive environment. Complementing contemporary architecture and landscape designs, the open-air design offers a novel experience for visitors, featuring special events and celebrations year-round. The project is also a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified project, making it one of the first in Canada for larger-scale retail projects.
