This project proposes an alternative solution to the use of precious land in Hong Kong. By capitalizing on the double-height space and attractive exterior view over Victoria Harbour, the interior design creates an inspiring studio space for a group of designers even with a limited construction budget. The vertical characteristic is presented as an entrance lobby meeting space that provides a dramatic arrival experience and privacy for the working areas behind. A storage space is designed at the entrance meeting space with concealed doors. Behind the entrance screen, the working stations are planned beside the main window to take advantage of the stunning exterior view.
A second meeting space is planned at the end of the workspace adjacent to the window, serving as a small social area. Ascending the staircase, there is a small library behind another working area on the upper level. The existing structural beam is incorporated into the lighting design by means of fluorescent lights with light shields running through the entire studio ceiling. The project’s key objective is to create a dramatic entrance and provide efficient work spaces.
