GILMORE REDEVELOPMENT
BURNABY

A masterplan is proposed to redevelop the Gilmore skytrain station site as a comprehensive Transit Oriented Development (TOD) including residential high-rises, townhouses, office towers, together with retail units and public plaza area at ground level. This project is designed as the entry gateway for the City of Burnaby. As the first skytrain station from City of Vancouver along the Millennium Line, the Gilmore skytrain station is located at the corner of the site and the skytrain rail runs diagonally over the site which became the huge challenge for the project. As a creative design solution, an open public plaza is created around the station which is integrated with the new architecture and makes the whole site become an urban centre for the city. Three office towers and five residential buildings are proposed along with a series of retail units on Dawson Street. Landscaped open spaces are also planned to provide green public areas.
