PATTERSON ROAD
RICHMOND
Located at one of the main intersections in Richmond, this project provides 170 residential units, including both market and affordable housing units, and 100 hotel rooms at the city centre area with a walking distance from the new skytrain station coming in near future. In order to resolve the challenge of the cul-de-sac road situation for the site access, a landscaped podium is created for the incoming vehicles and loading trucks. Elevated above the entry road, the entrance podium is also used as the main entrance level for the hotel visitors, while residential main entrance will be at the same level as the existing pedestrian sidewalk along Patterson Road. Due to the limited footprint of the site, roof gardens are created at the lower roof of the residential tower, as well as the hotel roof top.
In order to meet the residential density required for the project, a 14-storey tower is proposed to utilize the maximum building height with a 20m set back required from the north side. The hotel building is planned along the east side also with a restricted building height. Exterior articulations of the residential tower divide the high density of units into different framed composition with various colours and materials, such as the south facade which presents a eight-storey high framed facade for a more intimate scale in front of the existing pedestrian garden. The hotel building is designed with a progressive architectural gesture along the east frontage of the site.
