MERIDIAN CENTRE

ST CATHERINES

Located at the downtown core of St. Catherines, this project is a major catalyst in the City’s downtown revitalization strategies and the new building is a gateway to reinforce the City’s vision for a new cultural and entertainment precinct. The new facility provides more than 5,000 fixed seats with a three-level and open concourse design. The architecture features two major pedestrian bridges connecting the building entrances to St. Paul Street as both symbolic and physical links to the downtown main street. The two major transparent public entry towers provide public access to the building from the upper street level or from the lower level streets. The featured sculptural roof design of the architecture is visible from the approach roads on the east side of the site as well as the higher eye level of St. Paul Street. The massing and articulation of the east facade on McGuire Street echo the rhythm of the narrow buildings of the St. Paul Street and make the overall design blended with existing site context.
