PATTERSON ROAD
RICHMOND
Located at one of the main intersections in Richmond, this project provides 170 residential units, including market and affordable housing, and 100 hotel rooms in the city centre area within walking distance of the new skytrain station. To address the challenge of the cul-de-sac road situation for site access, a landscaped podium is created for incoming vehicles and loading trucks. Elevated above the entry road, the entrance podium serves as the main entrance level for hotel visitors, while the residential main entrance will be at the same level as the existing pedestrian sidewalk along Patterson Road. Given the limited footprint of the site, roof gardens are created at the lower roof of the residential tower and the hotel rooftop.

To meet the residential density required for the project, a 14-storey tower is proposed to utilize the maximum building height with a 20-metre set back required from the north side. The hotel building is planned along the east side with a restricted building height. Exterior articulations of the residential tower divide the high density of units into different framed compositions with various colours and materials. The south facade presents an eight-storey high framed facade for a more intimate scale in front of the existing pedestrian garden. The hotel building is designed with a progressive architectural gesture along the east frontage of the site.
